Great Moments in Marketing
While driving yesterday, I heard an ad on a local radio station that baffled me as to who in the marketing world came up with the premise behind it. The ad was for WIC, a program that provides access to food programs for mothers. I do not fault the intentions of the program. Rather, I would like to meet the person behind the marketing ploy to promote greater use of the program. All of a sudden, I almost drove off the road after hearing the statement 'Stop by your local WIC office to get your FREE Slinky Dink!' These women can barely feed their children and they're giving them Slinky Dinks!?!
Maybe they should consider more appropriate freebies like condoms, birth control, and child leashes.
